As a family we lived on various farms near by, my first recollection is Clavertye Farm, between Elham and Stelling Minnis. This is where I was introduced to driving a tractor by my dad, I used to sit on his lap and stear, by the time I was thirteen years old I was able to drive all the equipment on the farm from tractors to combine harvesters. My first school was in the village of Elham from 1955 to 1961, then Brockhill School, Saltwood Hythe for six months until my parents moved farms to Eastry, Kent where I attended Sandwich Secondary Mixed, until 1966............. Then it was time to join the big wide world and shortly after I joined the Royal Air Force as a clerk secretarial along with two pals from school Michael Law and Peter Fox. After our one year of training I was posted to RAF Thorney Island in Hampshire, from there I was detached to Irland and Cyprus, but remained stationed at Thorney Island until I purchased by discharge on 3rd July 1971, which coincidently was my 21st Birthday!!!............. During the following years I worked on and off in Saudi Arabia first in 1972 for Airworks (contracted to the Royal Saudi Airforce). On my return to England I passd my HGV 1 driving test and went to drive for Ifield Transport (Owner now deceased was Derek Simmonds). I drove all over England and Europe which was great fun. Then in 1977 I returned to Saudi for Cunard Shipping Line. The company name in Saudi Arabia was [CAMEL] Cunard Arabian Middle East Line, where I drove HGV 1 trucks unloading Cunards Ships and delivering the containers as necessary........... On my return to England I gave up driving trucks and started in the Private Hire world at Gatwick Airport, then in 1982 went out on my own. Todate I own three cars and have several others on my circuit called ABC Taxis.............As this page progresses I shall include some photo's so some of you out there may remember me, god forbid.
